Bilderbuch zur Marsforschung: Illustrator*in wanted!
In unserem Cluster „The Martian Mindset – Die Marsperspektive“ versetzen wir uns gedanklich auf den Mars, einer potenziell bewohnbaren, aber unwirtlichen Welt ohne fossile Brennstoffe oder ausgedehnte Wasserressourcen und nur von einer dünnen CO2-Atmosphäre umgeben. Es ist davon auszugehen, dass früher oder später Menschen zum Mars reisen werden. Die Reisezeit beträgt mindestens 6 Monate und eine Reise ist nur rund alle 2 Jahre möglich. Was machen wir, wenn auf dem Mars etwas kaputt geht und es einer Reparatur bedarf? Kurz ein neues Rad für den Rover nachbestellen funktioniert nicht.
Für dieses Szenario eine Lösung zu finden, daran forschten über 70 Wissenschaftler*innen in „Die Marsperspektive“: Wie können wir trotz der extremen Randbedingungen auf dem Mars – sehr wenig Ressourcen, wenig Energie, wenig Informationen und wenig Menschen – dennoch Dinge herstellen, die ausreichend gut sind?
Um dieses Thema auch an eine junge Zielgruppe heranzutragen wollen wir ein Bilderbuch machen, welches für Kita- und Grundschuldkinder geeignet ist und mit sehr wenig bis gar keinen Text auskommt. Hierfür wird ein*e Illustrator*in gesucht, welche*r bei der Entwicklung der Geschichte mitwirkt sowie die Illustration des Bilderbuches (vrsl. Zw. 15-25 Doppelseiten) übernimmt. Picture Book on Mars Exploration: Illustrator Wanted!
In our cluster “The Martian Mindset“ we imagine ourselves on Mars, a potentially habitable but inhospitable world with no fossil fuels or extensive water resources, surrounded only by a thin CO2 atmosphere. It’s safe to assume that sooner or later, humans will travel to Mars. The journey takes at least 6 months, and a trip is only possible about once every 2 years. What do we do if something breaks on Mars and needs to be repaired? Simply ordering a new wheel for the rover isn’t an option.
Over 70 scientists in “The Martian Mindset” conduct research to find a solution for this scenario: How can we still produce items of sufficient quality despite the extreme constraints on Mars—very few resources, limited energy, scarce information, and a small human presence?
To make this topic accessible to a young audience, we want to create a picture book suitable for preschool and elementary school (3-10years) children that uses very little to no text. We are looking for an illustrator who will help develop the story and create the illustrations for the picture book (estimated 15–25 double-page spreads).
